Flashlight. Flashlights would be a good idea to have. One battery powered in case of emergency of the other one failing and a solar powered flashlight. The solar powered one since not in use in the day, will be able to be charged and be available for use at night. Fire Starter. Something like magnesium is great for starting fires. You may have water proof matches, water proof lighters such as a Zippo or other usable items for starting a fire. A Good Knife. A good knife whether a pocket knife or a larger hunting knife is essential but the brand is not important when it comes to survival. Sometimes that little pocket knife can do more for you than a very expensive set that is not very transferable. There are many different styles of knifes so pick one that suits your style and where you may have to use it. Multi-Purpose Utility Tool. This tool can be used for a variety of things. It contains a saw, a scissors, cork screw, bottle opener and knives. You will never know when you will need this item and it fits in a pocket. A Multiple Use Shovel will come in handy if the need to dig a hole, cut logs or branches and gutting fish and other animals. The saw and gut hook blades are stores in the handle.
